# A family's week at Luxera Nadhee

> School mornings, a parked car that stays parked, homework in the fourth room, a birthday in the hall upstairs. How a household might use a 3+1 home and its shared spaces across a working week in central Malé.

The earlier piece on Sosun Magu follows a single day at Luxera. This one takes a longer view: a household's working week, and the way a 3+1 home and a building with its amenities on the roof share the load. It is written for the families and relocating professionals who are the building's intended residents.

## Sunday to Thursday: the city on foot

Malé is dense and walkable, and most of what a household needs is within fifteen minutes: offices, ministries, the main hospital and most schools. A central address means the week can be lived largely on foot. For a family at Luxera, that often means the car sits in the basement from Sunday to Thursday. The developer describes dedicated, secure basement parking for cars and cycles, which in the capital removes one of the week's daily frustrations: finding somewhere to leave the car.

Mornings in a 3+1 are less crowded than the plan's three bedrooms suggest. The developer lists up to four floor plans between 1,237 and 1,440 square feet, and the homes Binga has listed have had five bathrooms, which keeps the school-run rush out of the corridor.

## The fourth room, used

Families use the fourth room in different ways, and most use it hard. In some households it is the room for live-in help, as the developer intends. In others it becomes the homework room, with a desk and shelves and a door that closes, so the dining table is free again by dinner. For a parent who works from home a day or two a week, it is an office away from the family's noise. Tenants who arrive with a lot of luggage treat it as the store the rest of the flat does not need.

## Afternoons upstairs

After school, the building's rooftop is where the children go. The developer lists a kids' play area and landscaped communal outdoor areas there, alongside the infinity pool and deck. For families moving from an older Malé building, where children's outdoor time usually means a trip, having that space in the building is the change they notice first.

Parents who stay up for a swim or a session in the fitness centre after work use the evening hours well. The health bar and Wi-Fi lounge, as the developer describes them, give a resident somewhere to sit with a laptop that is not the kitchen table.

## Thursday night and the weekend

Malé households host. Birthdays, family gatherings and the long visits of Eid rarely fit comfortably into a city apartment. Luxera's multipurpose hall is designed for exactly that, and the barbecue deck and open lounge on the roof take the overflow into the evening air. The concierge would suggest checking how the hall is booked and whether there is a charge; the desk has not seen the building's house rules.

Friday is for leaving. The neighbourhood guide describes Malé honestly: convenience traded for space. A family at Luxera still crosses to Hulhumalé for the beach at the weekend. The difference is that the week itself has more room in it.

## Who the building suits

Families who want to live in the centre of Malé and not give up space; households with live-in help; relocating professionals who want to walk to work and keep a car without the daily search for a place to park it. It is less suited to a single tenant who wants a small flat and a small rent. Every home here is a four-room home, and it is priced as one.
