Vinares is not a boutique building. It is a large development of 1,344 flats in ten blocks of thirteen floors, in Hulhumalé Phase 2. Its appeal is not a single feature but the choice it offers, and above all the choice of view.

## Four views, four kinds of home

The catalogue sorts every flat at Vinares into one of four types by what its windows face.

- **Marina View** homes overlook the yacht marina and the cruise terminal.
- **Outer View** homes face the city.
- **Inner View** homes look over the main roads.
- **Standard View** homes are positioned within the towers.

That system is unusually candid, and it is useful. In a development this size, the view is what separates one flat from the next. Water and boats in the window of a Marina View home make it a different place from a Standard View home looking into the heart of the block. Ask which type a home is before you view it, and expect the rent to follow.

## Finished rather than bare

The catalogue describes the finishes plainly: living rooms and bedrooms fully tiled, bathrooms tiled on walls and floors with fixtures fitted, and kitchens with complete sets of cabinets. That is a practical kind of good looks. Tiled floors throughout are easy to keep cool and clean in the Maldivian climate, and a full kitchen means the home is ready for a family that cooks.

The one Vinares home Binga has let, a three-bedroom with three bathrooms on the first floor, was brand new and fully furnished. Its listing described contemporary urban living in a rapidly developing neighbourhood.

## Scale as a feature

Phase 2 is, in the neighbourhood guide's words, the newer extension: high-rise, still filling in, and the source of much of the new supply. Vinares is that description in built form. A development of ten blocks brings its own street life. The catalogue notes two floors leased for commercial use, including gyms, cafés and convenience stores, as well as easy access to ATMs.
