Renting from Apollo Holdings: three buildings, one way of building

Apollo Holdings has three buildings in Hulhumalé that Binga lets in: The Apollo Towers, Crystal Residence and Opal Residences. They share a way of building that a tenant notices within a minute of the lift doors opening: two towers rather than one, homes planned for light and moving air, and a short, dependable list of shared facilities. It is the developer the concierge team knows best, because Crystal Residence is where Binga has let more homes than anywhere else.

The signature

Crystal and Opal are both described by their developer as twin-tower buildings designed around natural light and cross-ventilation. In practice that means dual-aspect corner homes, wide glazing (Opal's brief specifies floor-to-ceiling windows) and balconies that the brief says "extend the living footprint outward". Corner homes at Crystal have been listed with three private balconies; a corner home at Opal was let with a wrap-around L-shaped balcony facing the sea horizon.

The floor plans repeat across both buildings: a two-bedroom for couples and young professionals, a three-bedroom with en-suite bedrooms for families, and a 3+1 with an extra room for live-in help, a study or storage, plus a dedicated laundry. Homes were delivered with air-conditioning and water heaters already installed, so an unfurnished Apollo flat is less bare than the word suggests.

The Apollo Towers is the variation on the theme. Its two towers combine homes with commercial floors at ground and first level, and the developer places it on the Hulhumalé beachfront, facing the Yacht Marina.

What the buildings provide

The pattern is consistent. A swimming pool and a gym in all three. A managed reception lobby with controlled lift access at Crystal and Opal, with 24-hour security, CCTV, a backup generator and a managed waste system. The Apollo Towers adds a children's play area with reading tents and colouring desks, gym locker rooms with showers, a multi-purpose hall that residents can book for gatherings or meetings, and two levels of parking with visitor spaces.

Parking is the one thing to ask about. At Crystal, motorbike parking is standard and a car bay is leased monthly; at Opal, garage parking is optional. Budget for it if you drive.

What rents look like

All figures are asking rents listed through Binga (September 2026 unless stated).

• Crystal Residence, three-bedroom, 1,200 sq ft. Unfurnished homes at MVR 38,000 to MVR 39,000 a month. A fully furnished seventh-floor corner home with three balconies is listed at $2,300 (July listing).
• Crystal Residence, four-bedroom corner, 1,742 sq ft. Dual-aspect glazing, a dishwasher, a utility room and covered parking, listed at $2,600 (June listing).
• Opal Residences, three-bedroom, 1,200 sq ft, fully furnished. Listed at $2,500.
• The Apollo Towers. A furnished two-bedroom was let through Binga after being listed at $1,500 in June; a 1,400 sq ft three-bedroom penthouse was listed at $3,500 in August.

Crystal has rufiyaa and dollar listings running side by side, which widens the field for local families and expatriate households alike.

Which building suits whom

• A family who wants the most choice: Crystal Residence. More listings, more floors and furnishing levels, and three- and four-bedroom corner plans.
• A household relocating on a corporate package: Opal Residences. Newer (the developer gives 2025 as its completion year), furnished three-bedrooms, and a corner home was let as a corporate suite.
• A couple or a single professional: The Apollo Towers, where Binga has let a furnished two-bedroom, with commercial floors downstairs and a hall for hosting.
• A household with live-in help: any of the 3+1 plans at Crystal or Opal.
