What MFLC asks for: the documents for a home loan

MFLC's home loan and Islamic home financing forms list the documents it needs: ID and guarantor forms, a year of payslips and bank statements, the project's costs and approvals, proof of equity and, if you will let the home, rent forecasts. The full checklist, and how to apply.

Maldives Finance and Leasing Company (MFLC) publishes its application forms, and each carries a document checklist. Gathering everything before you apply is the fastest way through. MFLC says its Islamic home financing takes three to five working days once documents are in order.

About you and your guarantor

  • ID cards of every applicant and guarantor.
  • KYC customer information form (the original).
  • Personal guarantee forms. Individual borrowers need a guarantor with a stable income.
  • Employment letters or salary slips for the past 12 months.
  • Bank statements for the past 12 months.

About the property and the money

  • Project breakdown: quotations, invoices or a full bill of quantities.
  • Proof of your equity (at least 20% of the project cost).
  • Owner's ID and the registry of the property offered as security. If the owner is not you, a no-objection letter from them.
  • Payment schedule and disbursement plan: how much is paid, when and to whom. For a developer purchase, ask the developer for theirs.

If you are building

  • Approved drawings, with the architectural and structural checkers' certificates.
  • Construction permit.
  • Contractor agreement and work schedule. Your contractor must have five years' experience and be registered with MFLC.

If you will let the home

  • Rental agreements and rent forecasts. The form asks whether the home is for living in or to be rented, and the expected rent.

How to apply

  • Forms: download them from mflc.mv/downloads, or use the online form on the product page.
  • Submit: at MFLC's offices in Malé (H. Filigasdhoshuge, Ameer Ahmed Magu) or Hulhumalé (FW Residence, Reethigas Magu), or by email to apply@mflc.mv.
  • Phone: 331 5605 or 331 5606, Sunday to Thursday, 8 am to 4 pm.

MFLC may check with your employer, other banks and the MMA's Credit Information Bureau. It may approve less than you ask for, and pays out after deducting its fees.
