The Skyside by Renaatus, what your rent buys

The Skyside by Renaatus is listed as sold, so its homes are now in owners' hands, and none has yet been listed for rent through Binga. There is no Skyside rent to quote. This is what a tenant's money would pay for there, and what to check.

The homes

The catalogue describes spacious apartments, some with two bedrooms plus a smaller third room and some with three bedrooms, often with bathrooms attached. It lists features the apartments may include: balconies, open-plan kitchens, laundry areas and good ventilation. Many homes, it says, have sea and city views.

The building

This is where a tenant needs care. The catalogue says some units have access control and facilities such as a gym, a swimming pool and a clubhouse, and that there is 24-hour manned security with CCTV in some buildings. It does not say which. Before agreeing a rent, ask the concierge to confirm, for the exact block and unit, whether the pool, gym, clubhouse, security desk and cameras apply, and whether the service charge is included.

The neighbourhood and the price

Hulhumalé Phase 2 is the newer extension of the island, still being built around its towers. Binga's concierges describe it as good value for space, with prices set by the building and the view rather than the neighbourhood. Across Greater Malé, homes are quoted from roughly MVR 15,000 a month up to MVR 55,000 and beyond, and executive and new-build premium homes are often priced in US dollars. Furnishing moves the rent most, then the building, then the floor and view.

Renaatus, whose other buildings in Binga's directory are Renaatus IthaaMuiy and Renaatus Javaahiru, both sold, and Renaatus Irumathi on Hulhumalé's eastern shore, still selling.
