Living at Platinum Residences
A quiet street, a private pool, a garden for the dog, and the beach at the end of the walk. What daily life looks like in Hulhumalé's enclave.

Hithigas Magu is not a street people drive down on the way to somewhere else, and that is the whole appeal. Platinum Residences sits on it with three blocks around a residents' pool and a garden, and the coastal breeze does the rest.
The morning
The pool before the heat, or the gym. Coffee on one of the balconies, which every apartment has more than one of, facing the canal or the ocean depending on the block. Access cards at the lobby, a nod to the security desk, and the bike or car out through the gate.
The middle of the day
Malé is a fifteen to twenty-five minute drive across the bridge; the airport is closer. Phase 1's centre, the schools and the hospitals are a few minutes inland. The beachfront is a short walk, which is why the ground-floor garden unit Binga let here was so easy to place.
The evening
Closed kitchens with proper appliances mean dinner is cooked, not ordered. The children use the play area; the dog, allowed here, uses the garden. Waste goes down the chute on your floor. The building runs itself, quietly, and the balcony gets the last of the light.
The feel
Resort-style, the developer says, and it is closer to true than the phrase usually is. Not because of marble, but because nobody hurries.
