What makes RainPearl beautiful to come home to
Two blocks of thirteen floors in Hulhumalé, an arrival lobby with a drop-off, a pool you step into from the gym, and apartments set apart by voids. The design of RainPearl Residence, as its developer describes it.

RainPearl Residence is two blocks of thirteen floors in Hulhumalé, 112 apartments in all, and its developer has built its pitch around space: large rooms, large kitchens, large balconies, and room between neighbours. Binga has not yet listed a home here, so what follows is the design as the catalogue presents it, read with a tenant's priorities in mind.
The arrival
Beauty in an apartment building begins at the door, and RainPearl gives its entrance more thought than most. The catalogue describes an open, welcoming residential lobby with a security post, a waiting area and a drop-off point. It sounds modest. In practice it is the difference between arriving in the rain with shopping and a child and arriving somewhere that has planned for you: a car can pull in, someone is at the desk, and there is a place to sit while a lift comes.
Next to the entrance is a multi-purpose hall with its own pantry and toilet, which the developer suggests can be leased for events, with the income going towards building maintenance. It is a sensible idea, and one that may, over time, help a building look after itself.
Space between homes
The developer states that most apartments are separated from one another by a void rather than a shared wall. The benefits it lists are practical ones: less noise, more privacy, better ventilation and more natural light. A void is also, quietly, an architectural choice that changes the shape of every home: more exterior faces, more windows, more places for air to move through.
Inside, the plans are described as open and flexible, with large kitchens intended for cooking and entertaining rather than just reheating. The fittings and finishes are said to come from global brands, chosen for durability, style and easy maintenance. The catalogue credits the apartments to Rainbow and calls them the most spacious and efficiently designed that Rainbow has produced; that is the developer's own claim, and the desk has not yet measured a unit.
Balconies and the pool deck
The balconies, in the developer's words, are rare in the market: generous enough to relax, entertain or take the morning coffee outside. Sizes vary by unit, so the one you see at a viewing is the one that counts.
The shared space the building is most likely to be remembered for is the pool deck. The catalogue describes a 14 by 7 metre pool with a sundeck and a separate children's pool, placed directly beside the second-floor gym so a workout can end in the water. Positioned low in the building, it is an everyday pool rather than a rooftop showpiece, which is exactly what makes it easy to use.
What the desk has not seen
The catalogue lists RainPearl as still selling. The desk has not verified completion or occupancy, has not measured the balconies, and has not yet inspected a unit. When RainPearl homes are offered for rent through Binga, the concierge will inspect them first and report how the design holds up in person.
