Working from home at Creek Residences

A desk by the balcony door, water in the corner of the screen, a closed kitchen for lunch, a store downstairs and the gym at five. What a working day at home looks like in the waterfront tower on the channel.

The earlier pieces on Creek Residences follow a commuter's week and a family's weekend. This one stays in. For anyone who works from home for part of the week, whether for a company abroad or a business of their own, the question is simple: can I work well in this flat? At Creek, with a three-bedroom on the channel, the answer is shaped by the view, the plan and the building downstairs.

Setting up

In a three-bedroom, the third bedroom is the obvious office, and the homes Binga lists at Creek all have three. The better desk, though, is often in the living room near the balcony door. The developer describes the living rooms as spacious, and on the channel side the view from that desk is water, boats and the Phase 2 skyline across the channel rather than the building opposite. It is a view you glance at between calls, not one that competes with the screen.

The quiet is the other asset. The developer's case for the location is that it sits away from the dense, bustling noise of the city centre, on the waterfront edge of Phase 1. For a video call at nine in the morning, that matters more than any amenity.

Lunch and the middle of the day

Creek's kitchens are enclosed, which is exactly what someone working at home wants: lunch can be cooked properly without the smell reaching the desk, and a second person at home can use the kitchen without being on camera. For the small things, a carton of milk, a forgotten ingredient, the developer lists an on-site convenience store. You go down in your house clothes and come back up.

If the day needs a walk, the waterfront walking paths and the public parks are a stone's throw from the building. A lap by the water is a better break than another coffee at the desk.

The end of the day

The hour after work is when a building either helps or does not. Creek has a fully equipped gym and infinity pools, so the day can end with exercise without a journey to it.

If you run a car or a motorcycle for the days you do go out, the building has basement car parking and motorcycle parking on the first floor, with multiple slots allocated to each apartment.

Working from home can make a flat feel small by Thursday. Creek's answer is its shared spaces: event halls for gatherings and rooftop or designated barbecue areas, which let an evening with friends happen outside your own four walls without leaving the building.

The flats Binga lists here suit this kind of life. Each is a three-bedroom with three bathrooms; two are fully furnished and one, on the channel, is finished with bespoke interiors. In a furnished one, a remote worker who arrives with a laptop and a suitcase can start work in the first week.

It suits a remote professional who wants water outside the window and quiet during the day. A couple where one partner works from home and the other commutes. A consultant on a long placement who needs a proper desk more than a city-centre address. Tell the concierge in your brief how many days a week you work from home; it changes which side of the building to look at.
