A day at home at Kandoofa Ecoplex, as the plans describe it

Morning on the rooftop, a smart home that manages its own climate, the children in the eco-play area. How the developer's plans for Kandoofa Ecoplex would shape a day in Hulhumalé Phase 2.

No Binga tenant has yet lived at Kandoofa Ecoplex, so this is a day drawn from the developer's plans rather than from experience. It is worth reading that way: as a description of the life the building is designed for.

Morning

The developer describes a rooftop infinity pool, a community rooftop garden and a fitness centre. A morning here would begin up there, before the heat, with the ocean or the city spread out below.

Back in the flat, the catalogue says smart climate control, automated lighting and high-speed fibre come as standard in every unit. For someone who works from home, fibre is the feature that matters most; ask the concierge to confirm the provider for any specific home.

Daytime

Phase 2 is the newer extension of Hulhumalé: high-rise, still filling in, with the neighbourhood still being built around the towers, as Binga's neighbourhood guide puts it. Life at a building here leans on what the building itself provides. At Kandoofa the brochure lists children's eco-play areas and green spaces maintained with harvested rainwater, which gives families somewhere to spend the day close to home.

The natural ventilation corridors the developer describes are meant to keep the building's shared spaces cooler during the day. Whether they do can only be judged in person, on a hot afternoon; the concierge will suggest viewing at that hour when homes become available.

Evening

Residents come home through biometric access control, according to the developer, with a 24/7 concierge service in the building and basement parking with electric-vehicle charging. The evening might end on the rooftop garden, among plants the residents tend themselves, with the lights of Hulhumalé coming on below. A one-bedroom tenant and a family in a three-bedroom home would share the same roof, which is part of the idea.

Who it would suit

On paper, families and professionals who want space and green in Phase 2, and anyone who cares how a building uses energy. The desk has not verified the building's status, size or developer. The concierge will confirm what exists before anyone plans a move around it.
